Hillside Cottage lies in the heart of the historic village of Ireshopeburn. It is a cosy two hundred year old two bedroomed terraced cottage overlooking the River Wear.

The cottage is quite unusual in that it actually sits in the hill, hence the name. Outside is a small patio garden complete with garden furniture and bbq and is ideal for relaxing in after a day touring the area.

This area has recently been designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Within easy reach are reminders of the areas industrial heritage at Kilhope Lead Mine and Beamish Museum, reminders of religious heritage at the local chapel, where John Wesley preached, and at nearby Durham Cathedral and natural heritage at Burnhope Moor and the Pennine Way.

Beamish Museum, Durham County Cricket Ground, and Locomotion Railway Museum are also accessible from the hotel. The hotel offers comfortable bedrooms, 46 of which are standard rooms located within a courtyard area.
